The Group/Parent Charter

The idea of the Group/Parent charter is to cement the relationship between the people who run the group and the members of the group. Charters are becoming more and more popular in schools and they serve to outline the responsibilities of both the management and the membership. The charter is shown below. If you haven't signed one and would like to commit to the charter then please contact us and we will arrange for one to be sent to you.

The Charter

This document forms the Group/Parent Charter. It outlines what you can expect from us and in return we ask you to put something back into the Group.

We, the leaders and the executive committee agree to:

  • Help your child reach his full potential, physically, socially, intellectually and spiritually so that he is able to take a full part in his local, national and international community.
  • Ensure that all Scouting activities are carried out safely and in accordance with the Policy, organisation and Rules of the Scout Association.
  • Keep an active dialogue with the parents regarding their child's progress in the Scout movement.

I/we the parent(s) or guardian(s) of .......................................................agree to:

  • Maintain open communication with the leaders concerning our child's development and needs, including medical conditions.
  • Ensure our child's regular attendance at Scout section meetings, activities and church parades and inform leaders of any planned absence in plenty of time. Attendance will be made in full uniform unless requested not to do so be the section leader.
  • Ensure that any subscriptions are paid on time, i.e. at the beginning of each school term.
  • Give practical support to the Scout Group when requested by the Group Scout Leader or section leader.
